Stories

Real weddings. Real numbers.

Three families. A thousand and one hundred and fifty guests between them. Not a single door fight. These are their numbers, in their words.

§ 01 · Ahmed's wedding

Six family groups. One calm door.

We invited 420. My wife's aunt brought 30 cousins I'd never met. Every person had a QR. Every scan worked. The door was calm.
Ahmed Hussein · Groom

Ahmed had four months, no wedding planner, and a cousin who had run his brother's door with a notebook. That notebook had failed at 180 people.

We set up six delegations the first night — Aunt Halimo got 30, Uncle Hassan got 40, the bride's side got 200. Each family leader added their own names, their own phone numbers, their own party sizes. Ahmed never touched a guest list after week one.

On the night, the scanner ran on three phones at two doors. Green light every time. Zero rejects. The cousin who had been the door bouncer for a decade said it was the first wedding he didn't feel embarrassed at.

§ 02 · Yasmin's wedding

Hooyo's friends got the invitation in Somali.

My mother's friends only speak Somali. When they got the invitation in their language with their name on a beautiful card, they called her to say how honoured they felt. That is what this does.
Yasmin Ali · Family leader · bride's side

Yasmin's mother had been dreading the invitation list. She had 140 friends who read only Somali, most of whom didn't have email. In past family weddings, she had made phone calls for weeks and still missed people.

Martida generated 147 personalised cards in Somali, each with the recipient's name in Pinyon Script. They went out by WhatsApp in a single afternoon. Every aunt who received one sent a voice note back within the hour.

On the day, nobody showed up confused. Everyone knew their table. Everyone knew their family group. Yasmin's mother did not make a single clarifying phone call.

§ 03 · Farhan's wedding

Aunt Halimo ran her 30 herself.

We gave Aunt Halimo her 30 seats and she managed everything herself. I did not chase a single name. On the night, the scanner just worked. I actually enjoyed my own wedding.
Farhan Warsame · Groom

Farhan had already attended four weddings where the groom spent the first hour at the door resolving who could come in. He refused to do the same.

Five family leaders got their own slot allowance — Aunt Halimo's 30, Uncle Hassan's 40, Sadia's 58 community elders, Axmed's 64 friends, and Hafsa's parents with the rest. Each leader typed their own list. Each list went out in the right language.

On the night, Farhan and Hafsa walked through the door together at 17:45 — before any guest arrived. By 20:00, all 350 were scanned in. Neither of them had touched a phone.
